Talking MOSA at the TSOA-ID: Remove the risk. Add the performance.
It was a packed house, with over 450 attendees, at the recent Mercury-sponsored TSOA-ID (Tri-Service Open Architecture Technical Interchange Meeting and Expo) conference held in Solomons, MD, on March 15 and the room was buzzing about embracing MOSA (Modular Open Systems Approach). Key takeaways from the keynotes and expert panel discussions, delivered by open systems leaders in the defense community representing the DoD, Army, Air Force and Navy, were the need to escape from vendor lock and, instead, recognize the ability to utilize proven, open solutions that avert risk and promote interoperability, reuse and rapid technology insertion.
Nearly 50 booths and live demonstrations served as testament to industry and the defense community working together to promote solutions in the growing open architecture ecosystem. Mercury successfully demonstrated the Model 8256 SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture™) development platform, proving true heterogeneous interoperability with SOSA aligned products from several suppliers. The development platform highlighted signal acquisition and system management capabilities with time and frequency displays.
All in all, TSOA-ID was a success with prominent companies joining representative commands from multiple branches of the U.S. Armed Forces to demonstrate the latest open architecture advancements that promote interoperability, cost savings and sustainment. The TSOA-ID keynote presentations are now available to download.
