AM9030 0.9 to 18 GHz MMIC Tuner

0.9 to 18 GHz Miniature Transmitter Module

AM9030-1 is a fully integrated tuner module that provides high dynamic range coverage from 0.9 GHz to 18 GHz. The tuner also provides a bypass path from 10 MHz to 3 GHz for direct spectrum transmission. The heterodyne tuner module is designed for high performance and low size, weight, and power (low SWaP) and is mechanically mountable to a host circuit board for use in multi-channel receiver applications.

Sub-octave preselectors, pre-amplifiers, local oscillators, frequency converters, ADC driver amplifiers, power and control line filtering, a temperature sensor, and a control FPGA are included. The analog IF input frequency is centered at 2 GHz with a 1 GHz bandwidth. Multiple tuner sets can be configured to work together for coherent operation and N-channel applications. Interfacing to the tuner is accomplished by simply providing an IF input, DC voltages, frequency reference, SPI control, and connecting the RF output.

Evaluation board includes SMA input and output connectors, SMA reference input, and a single SMA voltage input. AM9030 evaluation board requires software control via a USB module provided on the evaluation board. Included with the evaluation board is a graphical interface for control of the module and a user manual showing how to operate the module using the provided GUI. Reference input can be either 10 MHz from your test equipment or a 100 MHz direct from a signal generator. Evaluation board includes one AM9030 unit mounted to the board. Additionally the units may be controlled independently or synced together for coherent operation. Evaluation board includes two AM9030 units mounted to the board.

Mercury also offers a sister part to the AM9030, the AM9018 which is a 0.9 GHz to 18 GHz receiver. The AM9018 is footprint and software compatible with the AM9030 saving resources in terms of layout and software development as the same code may be used to control either tuner. More information is available on the AM9018 product page. Dual AM9018 and AM9030 eval boards (1 each on a 2 channel board) may be available upon request.
