Case Study: NASA EMIT Mission Investigates and Maps Earth Mineral Dust

The Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation (EMIT), developed at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) was launched on July 14, 2022 and observes Earth from the International Space Station (ISS).  It's mission is to map the mineral composition of arid dust source regions on Earth and see if mineral dust affects atmospheric warming or cooling. In this case study learn about how Mercury's RH3440 rad-tolerant solid state drive recorder (SSDR) enabled NASA scientists to reliably investigate and map Earth surface mineral dust and why the recorder was chosen by NASA.
